Man it’s hot. Seriously, this is bad. I can’t live like this. The “heat index” had us dancing around 108 over the weekend. 108!

By comparison, Seattle is endured a high of 72 and will suffer through a week that will see the thermometer hover around 68.

On the bright side there are a bunch of fantastic shows coming up.

First up MIEARS has a pair of shows to wrap up a month that has seen her take her unique sound to New York and back. June 29th will find her in Austin at Cheer Up Charlies for a bill that also features Memory Keepers, Bragglights, Conrad Keely , and Ramesh. If you’re in the neighborhood be sure to check her out but fear not because June 30th she is back in Houston’s Axelrad. The bill brings her and the Memory Keepers together again along with TeeVee and BrandonD. Doors at 7 for the Axlerad show.

Raquel Cepeda will be bringing her cool jazz to what’s sure to be a hot night on June 29th at Remington’s in The St. Regis. Her Latin jazz trio is as good as it gets so this should be a fantastic way to spend a Friday night.

Today’s Monday so that means Arthur Yoria will be bringing you another edition of 3 Songs to Ruin Your Monday tonight at 8:30 pm. He’s got a live show coming up on Wednesday July 11 at the Neutral Ground Coffee House in New Orleans. It’s always great to see our artists on the road so People of New Orleans, take advantage. His one-man shows are a great blend of music and storytelling so if you have an opportunity to catch him in one of these intimate settings be sure to take advantage.

Keeping with the bilingual vibe for a moment, The Glass continues their incredible string of Spanish-language performances with a pair of upcoming shows in July. Friday the 13th has them in Fitzgerald’s sharing a bill with La Real Academia, a wildly interesting Venezuelan rock duo. The show is hosted GV&A Productions, a company devoted to promoting art and education.

After that The Glass will be bringing the music of Soda Stereo back to the stage when they perform a benefit for children who have been separated from their parents during cases of suspected illegal immigration. Proceeds will be donated to the ACLU. At the Houston Undrgrnd on Saturday July 14, the bill includes The Glass, The Vagabundos, Nico, and La Real Academia. This is as great a lineup of Spanish-language bands as you’ll see so mark this date in bright red.

Jealous Creatures makes an appearance the week after when they perform on Saturday the 21st as part of the Yaupon EP release show that also features Second Lovers over at Rudyard’s. Doors at 8 pm for this.

So there you go – the next month of your life is booked. You’re welcome.

I’ll leave you with the video for Mother Mother’s “Hayloft.”

That’s it for me today. Have a good week.

Be Well and Kind,

Jason
